CHILD PERFORMANCE LICENCES
A Child Performance Licence is required for children of compulsory school age or younger who are working within the entertainment industry.
You only need to apply for a licence once your child has been confirmed for a specific job. Each licence is valid for one individual job, so a new application will usually be required every time your child is booked for work.
Current legislation requires licence applications to be submitted with 21 days' notice. However, some local authorities may be able to process applications within 5–10 working days. This is at the discretion of the relevant local authority, and shorter notice cannot be guaranteed.
Documents Required
The following documents will generally be required for each licence application:
-
Part 1 of the licence application form – to be completed by the client.
-
Part 2 of the licence application form – to be completed by the parent or legal guardian.
-
Signed self-certified medical declaration – to be completed by the parent or legal guardian.
-
Letter from the child's school/head teacher confirming and authorising the required absence from school – to be obtained by the parent or guardian.
-
Two passport-sized photographs of the child.
-
A copy of the child's birth certificate or passport.
